In this technique-focused workshop, participants will learn how to transform a hand-cranked sock tube into a fully constructed sock by knitting heels, toes, and cuffs. Using a pre-cranked tube and coordinating yarns, the class will explore methods for measuring, stabilizing, and shaping sock components to achieve a well-fitting finished sock.
The sock tube yarn has been custom dyed by Fergus Yarn Co, inspired by a Panama beach at sunset, and is paired with two coordinating 25g mini skeins for contrast sections. Instruction will address stitch pick-up, structural integrity at cut edges, and strategies for maintaining gauge consistency between machine-knit and hand-knit sections.
Participants will receive:
• One hand-cranked sock tube
• Two 25g coordinating mini skeins
• Written instructions
• Required notions
• A two-hour guided workshop
Participants must bring:
A 2.5 mm (US 1.5) 32" circular needle.
